New Emergency Department Grand Opening Celebration Welcomes a Full House
On Friday afternoon, July 18, under the big tent, nearly 1200 visitors flowed into the Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital parking lot to celebrate the opening of our new 20,000 sq. foot, state-of-the-art Emergency Department. The Emergency Department Grand Opening attracted visitors from all over Ravalli County, as far as the Painted Rocks area, as well as from Helena and Missoula. All enjoyed lunch, a few words from Sonny LaSalle, Hospital Board President, Mr. John Bartos, Hospital CEO, James Hansen, MD, Emergency Physician and others. After the ceremonial ribbon cutting visitors had the opportunity to take a behind the scenes tour that included nine different stations in the new Emergency Department. Each tour station was hosted by a friendly, knowledgeable Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital team member who was proud to share the many new features, technology and benefits available in this new facility. According to Terry Tignor, Emergency Department Ward Clerk, "Oh man, I love every minute of being here and being a part of this exciting time!"
The celebration seemed to be enjoyed by all and those that took the tour were impressed. One visitor said, "This really is a well planned Emergency Department and has an advanced big city feel."

Old to New…Emergency Department Transition
Immediately following the Emergency Department Grand Opening Celebration, many of the Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital staff scattered to take a quick nap, in preparation for the next big project, actual transition from the old Emergency Department to the new Emergency Department. The Marcus Daly Emergency Department is always open; therefore a transition plan was necessary. This plan included at 3am on Saturday morning a team of 30 plus staff members gathered in new Emergency Department to begin the final steps of transitioning from the old to the new. As planning for emergency patients is not possible, this team was fortunate because the last patient came in at 2:30am on Saturday morning and not until 8:30am on Saturday morning did the next emergency patient arrive, unlike Friday and into Saturday afternoon when emergency patients were lined up for services in the old emergency waiting area. The first and all emergency patients are greeted at the main entrance of new Emergency Department by Marcus Daly Transporter, many are then immediately brought into the treatment area, were the patient work up begins. According to Lisa Lackner, RN, MSN, Emergency Department Manager, "this new facility offers a patient centered design and includes the technology necessary to offer quality patient care. We are here to ensure that Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital's patients' needs are met and exceeded."
