Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital with the support of Soroptimist International invites you to our third annual Women's Health Symposium, Osteoporosis Awareness. This year's symposium offers experienced and interesting speakers from the Marcus Daly Medical Staff, and a well known accomplished keynote speaker. Each speaker has created an engaging and interactive session covering today's top women's health concerns, offering tips on how to embrace the aging process, so that you live life to the fullest!

Track One: 9:30 to 10:15am

Learn what vitamin D really is and the important role it plays in living a long healthy lifestyle.
Brain Games Anyone? - Jennifer Joyner, MS, CCC/SLP
Does your brain need a quick pick-me-up? Come to this session and play games that are fun and will
exercise your brain!
Colon Health Begins With You - John Moreland, MD
Colon cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States and the most commonly
diagnosed cancer. Get the facts, ask your questions, and get your answers.
Making Exercise Fun in Your Home - Linda Adams, OT
Exercise at home can be fun, invigoration and rewarding. Learn how to find your WOBE, "World's One
Best Exercise."

We want this to be a morning for you! Unwind, be pampered, and get active while learning important health and lifestyle information that can positively impact you.


Cholesterol Screening

Your day will begin some time between 7am and 7:45am with a cholesterol screening. To find out your cholesterol levels, a technician will draw a sample of your blood. To insure an accurate sample, remember to drink plenty of water, but do not eat or have caffeinated beverages 8 to 10 hours prior to screening. Before the end of the symposi-um you will have your results.Following your cholesterol screening a delicious heart healthy breakfast will be served and participants will also have the opportunity to have blood pressure and BMI (body mass index) screenings as well as a stress reducing massage, gifts and lots of great treats! We encourage you to dress comfortably for the day.
