Sarina Wilson, MSN, AG-ACNP, started out as an ICU nurse in Missoula, and eventually transitioned to an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner hospitalist about 5 years ago. As a hospitalist, she has only worked in rural care areas. “I didn’t know how much I was going to love rural careuntil I did it. I get to spend so much more time with my patients, evaluating them holistically and treating more than just the one isolated issue in front of me. I get to take the time to evaluate their health concerns in the setting of who they are and within the context of their lives. The busier pace in larger hospitals would never give me the time to do this. I am passionate about my work. It allows me to engage in three of my favorite activities all the time: listen to stories, teach, and solve medical puzzles. What more could I ask for?”
