Physical Therapists

Desiree Dutton, MS, PT

Education: B.A. Human Biology 2000, University of Montana, M.S. Physical Therapy 2002, University of Montana

Experience: Desiree has worked in a variety of settings including acute care, home health and outpatient. She began working for MDMH in 2006 and has special interest in treatment of vestibular conditions, dizziness, balance dysfunction, concussion management and women’s health.

Personal Interests: Desiree and her husband have 3 children and enjoy traveling around Montana following their many activities. Desi also enjoys outdoor activities with her family including hiking, camping, running and skiing.

Kyle Tierney, DPT

Kyle TierneyEducation: Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy, University of Iowa

Experience: Kyle started practicing physical therapy in an outpatient orthopedic setting as well as in a skilled nursing facility. He now specializes in providing physical therapy in the acute setting. Kyle enjoys providing care to such a wide variety of individuals and their families, and assisting them in returning to their highest level of function.

Personal Interests: Kyle enjoys spending time with his wife and dog, hiking, traveling, and landscape photography.

Larry Ingvalson, PTA

Larry IngvalsonEducation: A.A.S. in Physical Therapy Assistant, Flathead Community College, Bachelor degree in Health Promotion, Montana State University

Experience: Larry has spent 3 years working as a personal trainer and fitness center manager at an outpatient physical therapy and fitness center in Kalispell, MT. He completed three clinical rotations in acute care, skilled nursing and outpatient rehab.

Specialized Certifications: AFAA Certified Personal Trainer

Personal Interests: Larry enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, hiking and anything outdoors.

Amanda Dye, DPT, C/NDT

Amanda DyeEducation: Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy, University of Montana

Experience: Amanda started her physical therapy career in a school-based setting and now enjoys the challenges and rewards of working in outpatient pediatric therapy.

Specialized Certifications: Neuro-Developmental Treatment Certified

Personal Interests: Amanda enjoys spending time with her family and friends, being outdoors and traveling.

Missy Frank, PTA

Missy FrankEducation: A.A.S. in Physical Therapy Assistant, Great Falls College MSU

Experience: Missy has worked with both pediatric and adult clients in a variety of areas including inpatient and outpatient rehab, schools, skilled nursing, and home health. She is a certified Arthritis instructor and has helped develop and instruct wellness programs for the community.

Personal Interests: Missy enjoys hiking, fishing, camping, gardening, photography, and being outdoors with her family and dog.

Mike Hattlestad, MPT, OCS

Education: MS in Physical Therapy, University of Central Arkansas, BS in Biology/Ecology, Baylor University

Experience: The majority of Mike’s clinical experience has been in general orthopedics and sports medicine. Miles received his Orthopedic Clinical Specialist Certification in 2009.

Specialized Certifications: Orthopedic Specialist Certification

Personal Interests: Mike and his wife, Kristen, have two daughters. He enjoys fly fishing, rafting, baseball, and bird hunting with his pointing dog, Pippin.

Pete Dunn, DPT, OTR/L

Pete DunnEducation: Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy, University of Montana, Bachelor degree in Occupational Therapy, University of North Dakota

Experience: Pete has over 20 years of experience in outpatient, inpatient, acute care and school based settings. He has worked with children, adolescents and adults. He enjoys working with athletes of all ages assisting them in returning to their sport and recreational pursuits following an injury.

Advanced training in use of the Selective Functional Movement Assessment

Personal Interests: Pete enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and three children. He also enjoys riding and packing horses, hunting, fishing, coaching, and 4-H/FFA.

Travis Williams, DPT

Education: Doctorate in Physical Therapy, University of Montana, Exercise Science, Montana State University

Experience: Travis worked as an acute care Physical Therapist Aide in Bozeman, MT. He performed clinical internships in acute care, in-patient rehab TBI unit, a rural Montana hospital, and outpatient sports medicine clinics.

Personal Interests: Travis enjoys mountain biking, rock climbing, trail running, camping, snowboarding, photography, and live music.

Caitlin Woodyard- PT, DPT, GCS

Education: Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from Duke University, 2008

Experience: Caitlin spent the first half of her career working primarily in outpatient clinics in New Hampshire and Vermont. In 2012 she became a traveling therapist throughout the northwest, with contracts from northern Idaho to the San Francisco Bay Area. During this time she developed a love for working with the geriatric population, specifically in the hospital and home health settings. In 2017 she was excited to begin putting down roots in the Bitterroot Valley and joining the Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital acute care therapy team.

Additional certification: Geriatric Certified Specialist, 2015

Personal Interests: Animal welfare and rehabilitation, any foot-powered outdoor adventure, and time with her partner Jeff and their four-legged children.

Timothy Redfern, PT, MTC

Education: Related Science degree in Physical Therapy, Mayo School of Health, BS in Pre-Physical Therapy Sciences, University of Montana, BS in Recreational Management, University of Montana

Experience: Tim has worked in the Rehabilitation Department since 1990. In 1991, he received a certification in Manual Therapy from St. Augustine University.

Specialized Certifications: Manual Therapy Certification

Personal Interests: Tim enjoys outdoor activities including hunting, hiking, skiing, camping, gardening, archery, sports, and woodworking.

Jeff Simmerman, PT

Education: BS in Physical Therapy, University of Montana

Experience: Jeff specializes in advanced spinal care complicated by chronic medical conditions including obesity and severe pain, as well as orthopedic and neurological disorders

Personal Interests: Jeff enjoys time with his wife and three kids. Being born in Western Montana, Jeff enjoys all that this beautiful place has to offer.

Occupational Therapists

Bill Ownbey, OTR/L CHT

Education: Bachelor degree in Occupational Therapy, Colorado State University

Experience: Bill has worked as an Occupational Therapist since 1987 in Albuquerque, NM, Salt Lake City, UT, Lewistown, MT and Missoula, MT specializing in hand and upper extremity rehab. In 2005, he became a Certified Hand Therapist and a member of the Hand Therapy Certification Commission.

Specialized Certifications: Certified Hand Therapist, Hand Therapy Certification Commission, and Certified in Functional Capacity Evaluations, Job Analysis and Post Offer Employment Testing through Work Well Systems.

Personal Interests: Bill and his wife have three daughters. Bill enjoys spending as much time as possible with his family. He also enjoys music, outdoors, cycling and traditional archery.

Joan Channer, MS, OTR/L

Education: Master of Occupational Therapy, University of Indianapolis

Experience: Joan has over 20 years of pediatric experience treating infants and children. She has worked in a variety of settings including children’s hospitals, outpatient rehabilitation clinics, public schools, home health and early intervention programs.

Personal Interests: Joan enjoys year-round outdoor activities, horseback riding, reading, exploring the arts and traveling with her dog Zealand.

Holly Smith, OTR/L

Education: Penn State University, Bachelors in Occupational Therapy, 2003; Penn State University, Associates in Occupational Therapy, 2001

Experience: Variety of pediatric settings including: specialized preschool, early inter-vention home visitor, schools, and now outpatient pediatrics.

Professional interests: Holly has focused her continuing education in the areas of sensory processing and autism.

Personal interests: Enjoys spending time with her husband and son, exploring the beauty that Montana has to offer - photography and digital scrap booking.

Julie Eberlein, MS, OTR/L

Education: Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse, 2015

Experience: Julie has gained experience as an occupational therapist working in a skilled nursing facility and rehabilitation hospital in Cleveland, Ohio before moving to Montana in October 2017. She is currently providing occupational therapy services in an acute care and home health setting with MDMH. Julie is excited to be living in the Bitterroot Valley and looks forward to working within the community.

Personal Interest: Julie enjoys traveling, downhill skiing, water skiing, fishing, and hiking. In her free time, Julie works in her studio making jewelry.

Speech Therapists

Jennifer Joyner, MS, CCC/SLP

Education: BS in Communication Sciences and Disorders, MS in Speech Language Pathology, Idaho State University

Experience: Jennifer has worked in a variety of adult and pediatric settings including skilled nursing facilities, acute care hospitals, inpatient and outpatient rehab facilities, and the public school system.

Personal Interests: Jennifer and her husband have lived in Hamilton since 2001 with their two children. They enjoy camping, Grizzly athletics and traveling.

Trudi Fisher, MS, CCC/SLP

Education: MS in Speech Language Pathology, University of Wyoming, BS in English Writing, Montana State University

Experience: Trudi has worked as a therapist in hospitals, in-home care, nursing homes, preschools, and schools. She works with adults and pediatrics, and has experience in adaptive recreation.

Personal Interests: Trudi enjoys outdoor activities in all of Montana’s seasons. She loves traveling around the Rocky Mountain and Pacific Northwest regions.

Amy Yockey, MS, CCC/SLP

Education: University of Washington, MS in Speech and Hearing Sciences, 1998 University of Wisconsin, BS in Communicative Disorders, 1996

Experience: Has worked in a variety of settings including: inpatient and outpatient rehab, schools and psychiatrics.

Professional interests: Focus in pediatrics, specifically feeding and oral motor issues.

Personal interests: Amy and her husband live in Hamilton with their three children. Aside from chasing the kids, Amy enjoys cooking, gardening, scrap booking, and Grizzly football.
