Karsten Peterson receives Daisy Award for extraordinary nurses

The first set of Daisy Award-nominated nurses were recognized at Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital on Wednesday.

Registered Nurse Karsten Peterson was announced as the first recipient of the Daisy Award for Extraordinary Nurses.

Peterson works in the Emergency Department at Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital and received his award in front of nearly 50 peers, family, friends and managers.

The Daisy Award for Extraordinary Nurses is a national program that Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital introduced less than a year ago. It is an opportunity for patients to recognize nurses who have touched their lives and excel at their profession. Patients and their families nominate a nurse and give examples of their extraordinary caring.
