MDMH gives free health class on lower back pain

Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital Physical Therapist Jeff Simmerman is teaching a health education class about low back pain on Thursday, Dec. 19.

“Low back pain is very, very common,” Simmerman said. “Statistics show that 80 percent of adults experience low back pain at some point in their lifetime and more than a 25 percent of adults reported experiencing low back pain during the past 90-days.”

From 1990 to 2010 low back pain moved from being ranked as the sixth most troublesome condition to the third most troublesome condition under lung disease and heart disease.
