Healthy Montana Kids
Free or Low-Cost Health Insurance
According to the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services
43.6% of the Ravalli County's population is under the age of 18, and
many of them are not covered by health insurance. The good news is, there
are free and low-cost insurance plans available for your children!
Healthy Montana Kids plan provides health coverage to children and teens
through age 19. Eligibility is determined based on family size and income,
and the level of income required for qualifying has expanded in recent
years. For families that qualify, there is no asset test and Healthy Montana
Kids covers pre-existing conditions.
Children's Health Coverage Affordable for Tens of Thousands of Montana Children
The Healthy Montana Kids Plan is available to 30,000 kids and is paid for
by premium taxes paid by insurance companies. The cost will be about $22
million in state dollars and will bring about $75 million in federal matching
dollars into Montana. This program makes children's health coverage
affordable for tens of thousands of Montana families, including families
in Ravalli County.
